Topic: The Intersection Between Research and Innovation

Dr. Albert is an administrator and scientist who leads a premier heart failure research program. Her areas of study include predictors of improvement in patients’ quality of life and self-care adherence, interventions aimed at reducing hospitalization and mortality, and assessment of interventions aimed at improving healthcare provider use of evidence-based heart failure therapies.

Throughout her career, Dr. Albert has been influential in the healthcare industry, actively volunteering on the steering committees, work groups and task forces of many national healthcare organizations. She has published more than 520 peerreviewed articles in nursing and medical journals, has written 33 book chapters and is a national and international presenter. She is the editor of Building and Sustaining a Hospital-Based Nursing Research Program (2106, Springer), and first author of the sixth and seventh editions of Quantum Leadership (Jones and Bartlett Learning, 2022, 2025).

Dr. Albert has received multiple professional awards and recognitions, holds four national nursing certifications and is a board-certified nurse executive (AONE). In addition, she is a fellow of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Nursing, and is an adjunct full professor at Aalborg University in Aalborg, Denmark. In 2015, she participated in a year-long AONE-Arizona State University Interprofessional Fellowship in Innovative Health Leadership. She was the first nurse president of the Heart Failure Society of America (2020-2021) and served as the inaugural president of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses (2004-2006).

Molly McNett, PhD, RN, CNRN, FNCS, FAAN

Topic: Navigating the Intersection of Research, Evidence-Based Practice and Quality Improvement to Optimize Nursing Practice and Patient Outcomes

Dr. McNett directs and oversees all programming for the Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-Based Practice and routinely leads national interdisciplinary healthcare teams to integrate key components of research, implementation science, evidence-based practice and quality improvement into clinical settings to improve patient outcomes. She has an established program of research that centers on identifying and implementing best practices for the acute care management of patients with complex critical care and neurological injuries.

Dr. McNett has earned research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Department of Defense and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. She is also a GRADE-trained methodologist who has led and participated in the development and implementation of evidence-based guidelines for more than a decade.

The Program Committee will schedule podium or poster sessions and will assign the dates and times of presentations. All presenters are required to register for the conference and pay the applicable registration fees. If the primary author of an abstract is unable to attend the conference, the author should plan for another individual to present the paper or poster, and that individual must register for the conference.

Tips for success

Abstracts of all papers should reflect or include:

  • Overall consistency between purpose, approach, outcomes and conclusion
  • Overall clarity, including clear writing
  • Overall significance

Selection of abstracts for presentation at the annual conference will be based upon scientific merit.

Abstracts

  1. Complete the paperwork and COI and indicate your preferred type of presentation (paper, oral or poster). Paperwork includes five recent (within five years) references and two learning objectives.
  2. Abstracts are limited to 350 words; this does not include the title, which is limited to 10 words. No references, tables or graphs are permitted in the abstract.
  3. Use the following headers: introduction, purpose, method, results and conclusion.
  4. Abstracts that do not conform to the guidelines or that arrive after the due date will not be reviewed.
  5. We can only communicate with the person who submits the abstract, not a secondary individual, and we will only communicate via email.

This is a two-day conference.  Presenters are expected to be there both days and we cannot accommodate any special requests for the time or date of your specific presentation.
